Daily update 4th June 2020 – Year 10 & 12
Thank you to all of those who have responded to the survey. Someone will be in touch over the next few days if we haven’t received your preferences but we will start to plan for the students that we now know wish to access face to face support in school from Monday 15th June. I’m really pleased that so many want to access this opportunity. We will be blending this with our remote learning offer and online face to face support, which will now need lots of thinking and planning time to get right for individual students and for our staff. We will be working on this today and we will get this to you as soon as we possibly can. I would rather that we take our time to get this right than rush it in any way, so I thank you in anticipation of your patience with this in advance. Safety remains our first priority.

Year 9
The lists of students for each option subject next year will be sent to heads of department today and we will be sending emails to individual parents tomorrow with the confirmed choices for each Year 9 student. The letter you will receive will also contain information about how this will work on teams and next steps.

Art/Photography competition
Thank you for your lockdown photography entries, we have enjoyed you sharing your experiences with us. Congratulations to Scarlett in Year 9 for the winning Photography entry. She has submitted a nature triptych taken on one of her daily walks and edited these using lightroom to capture the viewers’ attention.

This week’s competition is entitled ‘How I see tomorrow’ as life for the time being has been turned upside down, but we also know from past moments in history that challenging times like this are also times of great creativity as people adjust to new ways of living and working. We’ll learn a lot from what we’re experiencing today and so much of what we are learning will help make positive changes to the way we live and work in the future. We would like you to create a piece of artwork which describes how you see a better world after the pandemic is over. You could consider what your vision of the future is, what ideas you have that might help make a better world, what you would like to see done differently and what you would like to change. Entries should be sent through to melanie.hibbs@nkacademy.co.uk by Wednesday 10th June.

Take care everyone.

With very best wishes,
