Daily update 24th June 2020 – I hope you are all well.  I’m sure you will have seen the announcements made yesterday by the Prime Minister about the further easing of restrictions from 4th July and this will feel like another step towards a return to normal.  There was nothing further about education and schools yesterday and we await the guidance from the government to help us fully plan for September.

Wider reopening

There was one aspect of the announcement relating to the reduction of social distancing from 2 metres to one metre plus that would potentially affect the way we have set up the school for wider reopening in this term.  As there has been no change to the number of students that, as a secondary school, we are allowed to bring into school at this stage, we will retain the 2 metre social distancing in school.  The size of the Year 10 and 12 bubbles will remain the same so we are able to retain the distance of 2 metres in classrooms and at breaks and lunchtimes so we will continue with that plan to keep everyone as safe as we possibly can.

Year 11 key dates:

Leavers’ Assembly – This Friday, 26th June, 12 noon on Year 11 Team.

6th form induction – Monday 29th June, 12 noon on Transition Team.

Year 13 key date:

Leavers’ Assembly – Monday 6th July 12 noon on Year 13 Team

The government have decided to stop the daily briefings and will do announcements as they believe they need to.  I have decided that I will continue to do my daily updates for the remainder of this academic year for 2 reasons.  The first reason is that I have had so many lovely messages from so many of you to say ‘thank you’ and to say how valuable you have found them.  The second is that I have enjoyed writing them each morning and have felt that it has helped me to stay connected with all of you.  Your support of what we have been doing has been fantastic and I would like to thank you all for that.

Take care everyone.

With very best wishes,
