Daily update 1st June 2020 – I hope you all had a relaxing weekend in the sunshine.  I can’t believe it is June and term 6 already!  It will certainly be a very different term 6 to usual but we are still here for you all, working together in the best interests of our students.

Years 10 & 12

A separate letter will be sent out via email this morning to all parents of students in Years 10 and 12.  It is quite a lengthy letter but it contains very important information and it is vital that you read it carefully.  There is a link to a survey within the letter and it is essential that we have a response from all parents (for Years 10 & 12) by this Wednesday at noon please.  The survey is very short and there is an opportunity to ask any questions via the survey form.

Remote Learning

Teachers are receiving training this morning about the enhancements to our remote learning offer.  They will be working on this during this week and further details will be available shortly, with a view to rolling this out from next week.  In short, we are looking at further use of the technology available to us to create some high quality videoed lessons and some further live interaction between teachers and students.

Years 7 to 9

Teachers will be giving an update this week on how well their students are engaging and progressing whilst working at home.  We know that some are doing really well, despite the difficulties we are all facing, and we want to be able to celebrate that with them and with you.  We are also aware of some students who are struggling to engage or are struggling with work and we want to have a very clear picture of this in order to add in additional support where it is needed.  Years 7 and 8 should have had a parents’ evening in the next couple of weeks, which we clearly won’t be able to do, so we will look at how we share this information about engagement and progress and more detailed information with you for your son/daughter this term.

Year 9

We are almost at the point where we can confirm options for next year with Year 9 students.  Mr Robinson and Miss Warburton will be making some phone calls to specific parents and students in the next couple of days.  Teachers will then create new “teams” from next week for these subjects.  English, Maths and Science will be completely unaffected by this.  It has been much more difficult to do this process quickly when we have needed to speak to individual students about choices when we can’t just go to a classroom to find them and ask them the question! We would not normally issue the confirmations until the end of June so we have had to progress the development of the timetable for September as a whole more quickly in order to get this information out to you earlier than usual.  Thank you for your patience with this.

Challenge Tasks

Please find the challenge tasks for this week in the parent section on our website under NK at Home.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

With very best wishes,
