Daily Update 23rd April 2020 – Thank you for your messages of support yesterday following the information about the tweaks we are making to home learning. If you have any feedback on the changes, please do let us know by replying to these update emails.

Home Learning
We know that some students are getting on really well with the work being set and are getting through it quickly and we know it is taking others longer and some are struggling to get through everything that is being set. There is such a diverse range of students that we are providing this work for remotely that both situations, and everything in between, is perfectly normal. This is due to a number of reasons, including access to technology and internet. Now that all students have access to the chat facility, if your son/daughter needs support in understanding the work set or they are struggling to meet the deadlines teachers have given, then please encourage them to use the chat facility on teams to let their teachers know.

Contact with families
We are aiming to speak to all families this week, if we haven’t already spoken with you since school closed. That is a lot of families for us to contact, so bear with us if you don’t get a call this week – we will endeavour to do our best with this. We just wanted to make contact and check that everyone is ok. We know, from the feedback we have had from this so far, that you have appreciated the contact with our staff by phone, rather than just via email. Our teachers and support staff are working incredibly hard remotely to contact families, as well as setting and marking work and continuing with other developmental work for the academy.

Year 11
Miss Warburton is in school today and we are aiming to get letters out to those students who have applied to our 6th form today. These will be sent to students’ school email addresses. Please contact Miss Warburton if you have any questions about 6th form applications.

Lincolnshire School Games – Virtual Events – Dancing on Ice-olation
Students in Year 7 to 10 will have the opportunity to enter a dance competition. Further details are attached and also available on each Dance class team in the ‘posts’ section. Submission of entries is through the link on the attachment (please note this is not an in school competition so please don’t send entries to us but we would love you to share any entries with us please!) Deadline for submission of entries is 1st May. There is also a safeguarding section on the flyer attached, which is useful information linked to this competition that you should read if your son/daughter is interested in entering.

Quiz
The quiz last Friday was played by 53 families. This Friday’s quiz code is 125282. The link once again is https://myquiz.org/. If you have any questions or would like to suggest a themed round then please email helen.gordon26@outlook.com. The winner of the quiz each week can contact Helen on this email to receive their prize. Thank you to everyone who is taking part.

Continue to stay safe everyone and I’m looking forward to seeing some of the entries from the competitions that have gone out this week.

With very best wishes,

Jo Tunnicliffe
