Daily update 1st April 2020 – There are quite a lot of things to update you on today as we approach the Easter holidays.

Challenge Tasks for the holidays
As I wrote in my update yesterday, we have produced some challenge tasks for students to do over the holidays, either individually or with their families. They could even invite a friend to join them via one of the apps available and socialise whilst doing some of these activities. They are not compulsory but we thought that some students and their families would appreciate some ideas of activities to do over the holidays. These will be posted in the tutor group teams today and you can find them attached to this message. They are also on our website under Parents – NK at Home.

NK at Home
This is a new area of our website and can be found in the parent section of the website. All of the useful information relating to the current situation can be found in this section. The exception to this is my daily update which has a separate section on the home page, accessed by clicking on the relevant photo.

Children’s Guide to Coronavirus
We have found a useful presentation that explains the Coronavirus in simple terms that we thought might be useful to share with your children to help them to understand what this virus is and the current situation with social distancing. It is attached to this message and can also be found on our website in the ‘NK at Home’ section.

Home learning survey

As promised, we are keen to hear your opinions in order to inform the next steps with Home Learning after the Easter break. Put simply: if certain things need changing and improving then we need to know so that we can act upon it swiftly. Therefore we would greatly appreciate it if you (we encourage both students and parents to fill this in together if possible) could possibly take 5 minutes to fill in this survey found here:

You may be asked for login details – this is the student’s Office 365 login details (their school email address and normal school computer password). This will also be sent to the students’ school email address today. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as this will help us to improve the standard of Home Learning we are providing and ensure that it is as accessible and successful as possible, given the very challenging circumstances that we are all facing.

Year 12
Parents of Year 12 students will know that we had to cancel the Parent Consultation Evening due to the current situation. We have been collating information from teachers about grades and progress made, attitudes to learning and next steps and these will be sent out to students and to parents shortly.
