Daily update 3rd July 2020 – Yesterday the government published the anticipated document with guidance on school reopening in September. A link to the full guidance can be found below.
Headlines:
• All year groups and all students will return full time from the beginning of September.
• We will have to give consideration about how students are grouped together and the guidance suggests that year group ‘bubbles’ in secondary school is the most likely solution.
• We will need to consider how to avoid contact in school between the ‘bubbles’.
• There is a big emphasis on regular cleaning of hands and use of hand sanitiser.
• Masks are not expected to be worn in school by staff or pupils in the guidance (but will continue to be needed on public transport)
• Anyone with symptoms must remain at home.
• There will be no large group events like assemblies.
• We will have to consider the layout of classrooms.
We will, of course, start to plan in fine detail what this will look like in September for our students and staff and we will be revisiting our risk assessment in order to keep everyone as safe as we possibly can whilst they are in school. One issue that we will need to consider in detail is how our students get to school and I will be asking for your input to gather that information next week through a parent survey. I will be in touch again as soon as I can with further information.
Ofqual consultation
Yesterday Ofqual launched a consultation about next year’s exams. You might be interested in contributing to the consultation, particularly if you are a parent of a student currently in Year 10 or 12. The link to the consultation can be found here:
The consultation will finish on 16th July 2020.
Year 13 Leaver’s Assembly
Miss Yarsley and Mrs Barber will lead the Year 13 Leaver’s assembly on Monday 6th July at 12 noon on teams. We are looking forward to seeing Year 13 there!
Virtual Sports Day
Today is the last day for students to complete and submit their information to their tutors for the 3 events. Please see yesterday’s briefing or the website for details of the events.
Quiz
It’s Friday again, which means it must be quiz night! This Friday’s code is 142011. Following some requests for themes, this week will be based on entertainment, covering film, tv, theatre, music, books and comics.
