Daily update 17th June 2020 – Another really positive day in school yesterday, with different bubbles of Year 10 and 12 returning for the day.  More bubbles will return today.  It is so lovely to see staff and students engaging with each other.

Free School Meals

The government confirmed yesterday that they are extending the free school meal voucher scheme to include the summer holidays this year.  We will therefore continue to issue these vouchers to eligible families as we have been doing.

Updated handwashing advice

Yesterday the government published an update to the guidance issued on handwashing to prevent the transmission of infection:

It is essential that everyone washes their hands more often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand washing with soap employs mechanical action that loosens bacteria and viruses from the skin, rinsing them into the drain. Drying hands afterwards makes the skin less hospitable to the virus. Hand sanitiser can be effective if soap is not available or the situation makes using soap less feasible (i.e. when outside) but using hand sanitiser provides none of the virus-destroying friction that rubbing your hands together and rinsing with water provides.

The latest guidance and video on hand washing can be found at:

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/best-way-to-wash-your-hands/

Everyone in school is encouraged and expected to wash their hands with soap regularly whilst in school.

Take care everyone.
