16-19 Tuition Fund

Small group Tuition Funding

The funding can be used to support small group tuition for 16-19 students in English, Maths and other courses where learning may have been disrupted. All students will be on a 16-19 programme. The subjects covered in the tuition are not limited to English and maths but will be identified according to need.

North Kesteven Academy commits to using the small group tuition funding that it has been given to mitigate against the impact of the pandemic on our students. Sessions will be limited to no more than 5 students to ensure students receive the necessary input.

Support sessions will be prioritised, in order, for the following students:

Support sessions will be prioritised, in order, for the following students:

  • Students who did not achieve a grade 4 in GCSE English and/or maths
  • Students who have an education, health and care (EHC) plan
  • Students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country and would need catch up support
  • Students who are economically disadvantaged who meet the 16-19 Bursary Fund eligibility criteria and would need catch-up support to reach their full potential
  • Students who have not achieved a grade 6 in GCSE English and/or GCSE maths

Examples of some of the support on offer could include:

  • Small groups and one to one tuition
  • Tuition in English, maths/other academic subjects
  • Tuition in non-academic subjects, such as exam preparation
  • Tuition in vocational courses

Any support offered will be based on individual need, with clear goals, expectations and outcomes.

Our Commitment

North Kesteven Academy is committed to ensuring the tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 tuition fund by:

  • Producing this statement setting out how the fund will be used to support the most disadvantaged students
  • Publishing this guidance on the Academy website
  • Recording use of the fund, including references to individual students who receive support, the needs of those students, the number of hours of tuition delivered and retain the evidence of tuition provided
  • Deliver the extra tuition and spend the allocated funds in the academic year 2023/24
  • Ensure the prompt return to ESFA of unspent allocated funds Comply and co-operate with assurance activities
