Basic Equipment:
Equipment to be carried at all times: A well-equipped pencil case to contain:
• Black inked pens
• Pencils
• Eraser
• Ruler
• Pencil sharpener
• A scientific calculator
• Black fine liner
Also useful but optional:
• Small glue stick
• Colouring pencils
• A fiction reading book
• Notebook
Uniform:
• A plain white formal shirt with short or long sleeves
• A single style of black Academy skirt. This is a loose fitting pleated skirt and is the only skirt acceptable.
• Plain black, formal, full length trousers which should be loose fitting and not made of stretch material.
• North Kesteven Academy blazer
• North Kesteven Academy tie (house specific)
• Socks (over the ankle, plain black or white only) or tights (black or natural)
• Black formal, lace up, slip on or Velcro leather style shoes
• A black or navy outdoor coat with no logos
Physical Education & Dance Kit:
• A North Kesteven Academy grey PE T-Shirt
• North Kesteven Academy grey shorts or plain black sports leggings with no logos
• White or NKA sports socks
• Trainers suitable for sports – no ‘leisure’ trainers
• Dark coloured one piece swimming costume/swimming trunks or shorts (no Bermuda shorts)
• Studded football boots (plastic / moulded studs only for use on 3G pitch)
Dance
• Blue/black tracksuit bottoms and white T-shirt
Optional/Recommended
• A North Kesteven Academy grey half-zip sweatshirt
• long sleeved grey PE top for outdoor use in cold weather
• black tracksuit bottoms
• swimming goggles,

Items that are not allowed for school uniform:
The following items are not allowed to be worn on the school site:
any visible items of clothing except those listed above including:-
• Patterned or casual-style/informal white shirts
• Shorts
• leggings (except as described above for PE/Dance)
• tracksuit bottoms (except as described above for PE/Dance)
• tight fitting trousers
• denim
• jeans-style, combat-style or cargo-style trousers
• chinos or corduroys.
• canvas shoes
• trainer-style Velcro fastening shoes
• Leather jackets
• hoodies
• zipped tops
• tracksuit tops
• non-school uniform sweatshirts
Jewellery:
The following items of jewellery are permitted:
• a watch
• one plain stud in the lower lobe of each ear for pierced ears
No other piercing, including top of ear, nose, eyebrow or tongue is permitted. Ear ‘stretchers’ ‘spacers’ or ‘tunnels’ are also not permitted. (Please note: we would require any unauthorised piercings to be removed and that it is not permissible to cover these up or wear a clear ‘spacer’ in place of the piercing.)
Make up and nails:
The following is not permitted:
Excessive make-up is not allowed in Years 7-11;
Coloured nail varnish, gels, shellac, acrylics or false nails of any kind.
False eyelashes will not be permitted – this includes both disposable strip lashes and individual semi-permanent lash extensions.
Hair:
Hair longer than collar length must be tied back in lessons where it will create a health & safety risk.
Extremes of fashion or hairstyle are not permitted (e.g. unnatural hair colours) and staff may have to give individual students guidance on occasions.
Failure to resolve some extremes immediately may result in immediate parental involvement or students working in other designated spaces in order to allow time for such issues to be resolved.
The Academy reserves the right to send students home to change, with parental permission, if they are not in the correct clothes and to confiscate items of inappropriate clothing. If parental permission is not granted then students will be internally isolated until the matter can be resolved.
The Academy’s decision is final regarding whether or not a student’s uniform/presentation is deemed acceptable.
