The Mayor of North Hykeham visited North Kesteven Academy yesterday to congratulate and present certificates to the nominees for the North Hykeham Young Achiever award. He chatted with them all and was extremely impressed with their accomplishments. A huge well done to Lucas, Logan and Evie.
This week Year 7 and 8 have been lucky enough to welcome the Royal Navy into school to deliver a STEM workshop! The students and staff really enjoyed the sessions! The Royal Navy staff had some really positive comments and said "students were great" and the "staff were amazing".
Last week was quite a week for Mr and Mrs Ayre's Politics students. On Friday, they had the pleasure of a live Q and A session with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords: Baroness Scott of Needham Market. The students were complimented on their really thoughtful questions and they all really enjoyed the experience.
With local government elections coming up shortly in England, Look North came in to interview some of our sixth form students to see how they feel about this and how prepared they are for their first vote. Some of our Y8 and Y10’s took part in an American Football taster session run by the Lincolnshire Bombers this week, trying out the equipment needed including helmets and shoulder pads, and practicing their passing, marking and dodging skills in small group and match scenarios. Further sessions are planned for the coming term, and some of our students are already planning to attend the Bombers training sessions at Memorial Hall, North Hykeham on Saturday 20th April, Sunday 28th April, Saturday 4th May, Sunday 12th May from 9.30am-11.30am.
