The Academy was last graded “good” by OFSTED in 2015, a judgement predicated on strong leadership, good behaviour, good teaching and outstanding relationships. We have a strong, established Board of Directors, a talented, knowledgeable Senior Leadership Team and committed, enthusiastic and professional staff.
The Academy offers a positive, supportive learning experience to all our students to ensure that every student achieves their maximum potential.
66% of the Academy’s students achieved five A*-C GCSE passes or their equivalent in the new grading system in 2017. Our English teaching is particularly strong, with students performing well above national average. Our maths results are also strong, with 70% of grades awarded being between 9 and 4 (A* to C). The North Hykeham Joint Sixth Form also achieves excellent results, with almost one in four exams sat by students in 2017 resulting in A* and A grades. Our Academy is situated on the edge of the Cathedral City of Lincoln, regularly recognised as a great place to live and work.
Lincoln is a small, vibrant and safe City dating back to Roman times, a history that is evident throughout the oldest parts of the City. The popular “uphill” area of the City incorporates the magnificent Gothic Cathedral and Lincoln Castle, home to one of only four remaining copies of the Magna Carta. The surrounding cobbled streets, including Lincoln’s famous Steep Hill boast a range of bars, restaurants, and specialist shops to explore. At the bottom of the hill, Lincoln continues to develop around its successful University and the buzzing Brayford Marina, offering an array of bars, restaurants and cinema. The Arts are well catered for with the Lincoln Theatre Royal, Drill Hall, Engine Shed, and Lincoln Performing Arts Centre providing a range of events from traditional theatre to rock concerts.
Further afield, Lincolnshire holds miles of unspoilt and secluded coastline with wide golden beaches, and the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds are an increasingly open secret for walkers and wildlife observers.
