How to access this course:

A Level: To access this course we recommend at least a grade ‘6’ on the GCSE PE course OR at least a ‘Distinction’ Level 2 OCR. We would expect a high score on the GCSE PE written paper and you need to be a capable performer in ONE practical activity or an ability to coach at a good level in ONE activity. This means taking part in regular sport at a ‘good level’ OUTSIDE of school training and competing regularly. You will need to be able to use your knowledge and understanding and apply it to longer answers that are well constructed and demonstrate your depth of knowledge.

CTEC: If students have studied PE / Sport / Health and Fitness at Key Stage 4 a grade 5/Merit grade is desirable. Grade 5 in both English and Maths are also desirable. A teacher recommendation would be considered if the course requirements were not met.

You need to have a love of sport and want to learn everything and anything about it! A passionate interest in the world of sport will help to develop a wide knowledge base and give you modern day examples to use in lessons and help deepen your understanding. You will need to have commitment to study / work hard outside of lessons, high levels of practical ability in at least one sport and be competing / training outside of school, good written communication skills, the ability to apply knowledge to a range of sporting situations and proven ability in a sports based course in Year 11.
