Summary of course content:

This qualification is linear. Linear means that you will sit all their exams and submit all their non-exam assessment at the end of the course.

Paper 1- This paper covers the core technical principles and core designing and making principles. The students will answer a mixture of short answer, multiple choice and extended responses. It contributes to 25% of the A-Level.

Paper 2- This paper covers more specialist knowledge in technical and designing and making principles. It is split into two sections.

Section A covers product analysis consisting of up to 6 short answer questions based on visual stimulus of a product(s).

Section B covers Commercial manufacture consisting of a mixture of short and extended response questions. It contributes to 25% of the A-Level

NEA (Non-exam Assessment) – You will produce a substantial design and make task in the form of a written or digital design portfolio and photographic evidence of final prototype product. It shows the practical application of technical principles, designing and making principles and specialist knowledge. It contributes to 50% of the A Level.

 

Progression and Career routes:

This creative and thought-provoking qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers incl. Architecture, Graphic Design, Product Design, Industrial design, Vehicle Designer or Engineering disciplines.

 

How to access this course:

You will need a Grade 6 or above at GCSE in a Technology Subject.
