Press Release NHJSF A Level Results 2017
ALMOST one in four exams sat by students at a North Hykeham sixth form resulted in A* and A grades this year.
Students at the North Hykeham Joint Sixth Form achieved an overall pass rate of 95% in A levels and BTEC equivalents this year – with 60 per cent attaining A to C grades.
In English and Maths the results were impressive with more than 40% of students across the two subjects getting A* to B grades.
A number of departments achieved a 100% Pass rate. The Art department had 100 per cent of students achieving grades of A* to B, Russian with 80 per cent, Business Studies 59 per cent, Dance 60 per cent and Media 67 per cent – all up on last year.
The joint sixth form on Moor Lane is operated jointly by Sir Robert Pattinson Academy and North Kesteven Academy.
This year’s results are the first set to follow new rules introduced in 2015.
Under the old system AS-levels were studied in Year 12, with exams taken in May-June that were worth 50% of your overall A-level qualification.
Under the new system all A-level exams took place at the end of Year 13, with no marks from AS-levels contributing to the overall final grade.
Helen Renard, Headteacher at SRPA said: “Any changes to the way courses and exams are structured is a challenge for staff and students but we are absolutely delighted with the way everyone has worked to reach their potential.
“It has been another excellent year for the joint sixth form and we look forward to seeing our students go onto rewarding university courses or careers. They are a great credit to our schools and the local community.”
Neil Wilkinson-McKie, Headteacher at North Kesteven Academy said: “We are delighted with the achievements of our students. They have all shown hard work, dedication and commitment and that shows in our results.
“I am immensely proud of them all and thank their families and all our staff for all the support and expertise that has helped them reach their goals.”
