North Kesteven Academy is committed to working with colleagues who are joining the profession as trainees and NQTs. We are also committed to modelling good practice and complementing professional standards.

Creating Futures : School Experience Weeks

North Kesteven Academy has a history of providing opportunities throughout the academic year for those who wish to experience secondary education before embarking on Initial Teacher Training.  Candidates join a specific department to shadow their staff and gain an insight into the nature of teaching.

Each ‘placement’ ordinarily runs from Monday to Friday and is reliant on the relevant departments having scope to host school experience candidates.  For further information please email

Successful candidates will be contacted via email to inform them of their provisional allocation to a school experience week.  They will be invited into school to meet a representative from our Human Resources Department and to provide the following documentation :

Proof of ID – driving licence or passport

Recent DBS document, (these will cost the applicant £10 which can be applied for through school)

One reference from a recent employer

Our HR department will thoroughly check all your documentation after which the school experience week will be confirmed.
